Teixeira says thumb feeling better, but wishes he had another month before playoffs

Mark Teixeira was bothered by a sore right thumb during the last month of the regular season, which had an obviously negative effect on his offensive output.

Teixeira's numbers picked up in the final week, a positive sign. He said today he's feeling better, but also indicated it's not exactly where he wants it to be.

"It's getting better. I wish I had one more month in the season and then it's the playoffs. But I feel good. And I'm going to go out there and play my hardest every day... I've told you guys it's something I'm going to have to deal with the rest of the way out. But it's not going to be a problem. It's not going to keep me off the field."
