Joe Girardi has been adamant the past few days about staying "on rotation." But the rotation he chose hasnt worked out well. Specifically, his decision to start Phil Hughes in Game 2--supplanting Andy Pettitte from his normal postseason spot--backfired two ways.
Hughes was awful, and cost the Yankees a change for a choke-hold on the series before Cliff Lee ever got to the mound. And it wasted a terrific outing by Pettitte, against Lee.
So now what? a MLB official has just announced that Girardi will go last in the press conference rotation tonight, rather than first. You wonder if that means he is planning to make a rotation change.
