Jeff Francoeur has a great throwing arm from right field. So I'm wondering why he decided to throw to third base to try to get Jorge Posada instead of throwing home for a chance to get Lance Berkman on Curtis Granderson's single?
The complete recap of what happened in the bottom of the second is below.
As it turns out, Berkman, who would've been caught at home plate by a Francoeur throw, scored from second -- yes, second -- and Posada scored when Michael Young couldn't handle Francoeur's throw. C.J. Wilson's relay to home plate to try to get Posada sailed over Matt Treanor.
With the Yankees having problems with runners in scoring position this series, I would've went for Berkman at home plate. If you throw out Berkman, you have No. 9 hitter Brett Gardner up to try to score Posada.
