The Yankees made numerous roster changes on Wednesday afternoon, including designating Danny Burawa for assignment.

Burawa, a Rocky Point High School and St. John's product, was called up to the majors on June 21. The righthanded pitcher appeared in one game for the Yankees against the Tigers on June 21. Facing the heart of the Detroit order to start the sixth inning, he allowed four runs and three hits in two-thirds of an inning, including a three-run home run by J.D. Martinez.

Garrett Jones, a veteran infielder/outfielder who was designated for assignment when the Yankees acquired Dustin Ackley from the Mariners last week, elected free agency then signed a new 2015 Major League Uniform Player Contract with the Yankees.

Righthanded pitcher Luis Severino, who will make his major league debut Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium against the Red Sox, was added to the 25-man roster from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Righthanded pitcher Caleb Cotham, who was called up when Ackley went on the disabled list earlier this week, was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
