The Yankees will wait until after BP to announce the roster move. It's not going to be Chad Moeller, since Jorge Posada has not been cleared to catch yet.
Both Posada and Joe Girardi said Posada will be DHing exclusively until his foot allows him to catch. Also, for the first time, Posada seemed to accept that he won't be catching every day when he is 100 percent. But he also contradicted himself, saying, "I'm not a DH yet." Girardi would not say Posada is still the team's No. 1 catcher.
Actually, as Ken Davidoff will explain later in his column (please don't tell the competition), it's pretty simple what's going on: the Yankees have an opening at DH with Nick Johnson out; Posada keeps getting hurt and is nearly 39; Francisco Cervelli has emerged as someone who you want to catch 3-4 times a week.
But, when Game 1 of the playoffs rolls around, Posada will probably be the catcher, especially if Johnson is back. At least that's my opinion. You'll have to wait for Ken's.
