Yankees win 7-2, pull to within 3-2 in ALCS

Mariano Rivera easily retired Jeff Francoeur and Matt Treanor before Mitch Moreland singled to left in the top of the ninth. Elvis Andrus popped out to Lance Berkman in foul territory to end the game.

The Yankees beat the Texas Rangers 7-2 and now trail 3-2 in the American League Championship Series. It's back to Texas for Game 6 on Friday night. If the Yankees win that game, then we would have a deciding Game 7 on Saturday night with Cliff Lee facing Andy Pettitte.

I agree with Ron Darling on TBS. A gutsy win by the Yankees, losing Mark Teixeira in Game 4 and all. Gutsy pitching performance for CC Sabathia, who battled through six innings and left with the Yankees leading 6-2.

Unlike Games 3 and 4, the Yankees got a strong performance from their bullpen, Kerry Wood and Mariano Rivera pitched three scoreless innings.

Jorge Posada and Curtis Granderson combined to go 5 for 8 with three RBI. Granderson was 3 for 4 with two RBI.

Newsday's Cody Derespina will have a postgame analysis going up on the blog soon.
