Phil Hughes was awesome last night for the Yanks. He pitched seven innings of no-hit ball against the A's before Eric Chavez led off the eighth with a chopper single that hit Hughes right in the arm. E-Boland's report here has all the details from the Yank's sixth striaght win.
Joba Chamberlain, whom Hughes beat out for the fifth starter, was the subject of talk before thea game. Manager Joe Girardi announced that Chamberlain had secured the role as the primary setup man for closer Mariano Rivera. Chamberlain has allowed just one run in six appearances since giving up a run in the season opener in Boston. He basically locked up the role in Tuesday night's 7-3 victory, relieving Boone Logan with two outs in the seventh and the bases loaded.
