All things considered, the biggest reason the Yankees are down 2-1 in this series probably has been their lack of hitting. That might be changing.
They are having good at bats and are hitting some rockets against Tommy Hunter. Derek Jeter's ball to the deepest part of the park nearly went over the fence. It served its purpose, becoming a triple that put him in position to score on Curtis Granderson's hot shot off the glove of second baseman Ian Kinsler. Score tied, 2-2. Then Mark Teixeira lined one right into Kinsler's glove, with the second baseman playing on the rightfield grass as part of a shift.
Maybe the bats are awakening, or are just celebrating the fact that Cliff Lee isn't on the mound tonight.
