Billups is out; Amar'e is iffy

Boston, Mass. - Monday April 17, 2011 -

The rest of Team Newsday is working the pregame locker rooms, so I have been asked to share the following information from coach Mike D'Antoni's pregame presser:

Chauncey Billups is out of Game 3 because of that strained left knee tendon. Toney Douglas will start in his place again.

Amar'e Stoudemire will test his sore back in pregame warmups, after which a decision will be made about his status.

The team is confident he will play, but there is no telling how his back will react during the game, and especially after he takes breaks during the first half and even more so at halftime.

In other pregame news, Walt Frazier is wearing a suit whose color is open to interpretation.

Could be salmon. Could be peach. Could be orange. Or all of the above.

Should be an interesting night.

UPDATE AT ABOUT 6:20 P.M.: Stoudemire finished warmups with a thunderous dunk, then left the court giving fans two thumbs up.
