Carmelo earns Player of the Week honors again

Another Melo moment has led to another NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week award for Carmelo Anthony.

It is his second consecutive Player of the Week honor, which is a first for a Knicks player. Anthony completed a 4-0 week (Monday to Sunday) for the Knicks with a game-winning shot and game-saving block in the final seconds of Sunday's 110-109 win in Indiana.

Anthony averaged 28.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game over the week.

With Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire (Nov. 21 and Dec. 5) both earning Player of the Week honors this season, it is the first time the Knicks have had players named to four Player of the Week awards. Patrick Ewing had three during the 1988-89 season.

Anthony will also accomplish another feat for the Knicks: the first time two players have appeared as guests of the David Letterman Show in the same season. After Amar'e made his debut on Jan. 13, Carmelo is scheduled to be on the show this Thursday night.
