After facing No. 1 overall pick John Wall on Friday, the Knicks now face the second overall pick in Evan Turner today against the 76ers in a noon matinee at the Garden. Turner will make his first career start today in place of Andre Iguodala, who is out with a strained Achilles tendon. He suffered the injury in Friday's loss to the Cavs.
According to Kate Fagan:
Iguodala's injury ends his string of 252 consecutive games played, dating from the 2007-08 season. Through six games this season, Iguodala is averaging 13.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game.
Should be a good matchup of fast guards, with Jrue Holiday and Louis Williams going up against Raymond Felton and Toney Douglas. The key will be containing burly Elton Brand (18.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.8 blocks) inside.
The Knicks (3-2) are looking for a third straight win, something accomplished three times last season and the last time was in the first week of the 2010 calendar year. They are also looking to move two games over .500, which they haven't been since Nov. 16, 2008 after a loss to the Mavericks had them 6-4 to start the season.
Enjoy the game.
