The NBA released its preseason schedule today to a host of snickering. Unless the ongoing lockout ends -- and the sides haven't met since Aug. 1, there is little optimism that these games will even be played.

But, nevertheless, the Knicks are scheduled to play eight preseason games, opening Oct. 11 against the 76ers in Philadelphia. Unlike last year, when the Knicks began the preseason in Milan and Paris, this year's travel schedule is much closer to home.

Speaking of home, the Knicks won't play at Madison Square Garden until Oct. 24 against the Toronto Raptors. They will, however, be the first of the Garden's teams to play in the brand-new lower bowl, as the Rangers, who will play their entire preseason schedule on the road, won't make their home debut until Oct. 27.

The Knicks entire preseason schedule is as follows:

Oct. 11. @ 76ers - 7 p.m.

Oct. 13 @ Wizards - 7 p.m.

Oct. 15 vs. Celtics (in Albany, N.Y.) - 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 18 @ Nets - 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 22 @ Celtics (in Harford, Conn.) - 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 24 vs. Raptors - 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 26 vs. Wizards - 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 28 vs. Nets - 7:30 p.m.
