Knicks center Willy Hernangomez was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team, as voted by the media covering the league.
Hernangomez averaged 8.2 points and 7.0 rebounds, and led all rookies in field-goal percentage (52.9) and double-doubles (11). He’s the sixth Knick to be selected to the first team since 2010, joining Channing Frye, Landry Fields, Iman Shumpert, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kristaps Porzingis.
The rest of the All-Rookie First Team consists of Milwaukee’s Malcolm Brogdon, Philadelphia’s Dario Saric and Joel Embiid, and Buddy Hield, who started the season with New Orleans before being traded to Sacramento. Brogdon and Saric were unanimously selected, receiving all 100 first-team votes.
Hernangomez received 44 first-team votes and 40 second-team votes.
The All-Rookie Second Team is Denver’s Jamal Murray, Boston’s Jaylen Brown, Phoenix’s Marquese Chriss, the Lakers’ Brandon Ingram and Dallas’ Yogi Ferrell, who also played for the Nets.
