Sir Charles apologizes

In case you didn't see it, here is Hahn's story on Charles Barkley apologizing Thursday night for his remarks about Mike D'Antoni Tuesday.

Hahn reported that Knicks higher-ups were furious over Sir Charles' initial comments.

Next time I see Charles I will try to get to the bottom of his antipathy for the Knicks.

I wasn't aware of it when I spoke to him at length back in January and was surprised by his reluctance to say anything positive about the Knicks' revival.

At the time, he said he would take them seriously only if they got Carmelo Anthony. When they did, he kept up the criticism.

I mostly like Barkley. At the very least I certainly find him entertaining. And he told me I am the only New York media writer he likes.

I'll take it, as long as I can leverage that trust into an honest explanation.

But enough about Charles. Game 3 is on ESPN and MSG. Looking forward to it.

The last time I covered a Knicks playoff game at the Garden was June 17, 1994.

Let's just say it is going to take a lot for this playoff experience at MSG to match that one for epic, historic, once-a-century strangeness.
