One of Phil Jackson's hires won't be brought back.
Craig Hodges' contract as interim coach of the Knicks' D-League team was not renewed, according to a league source. Hodges took over for Kevin Whitted, who was fired in March with the Westchester Knicks floundering in their inaugural season at 10-36. Hodges went 0-4.
Westchester Knicks general manager Allan Houston made the decision a while ago not to retain Hodges, and has been talking to candidates since summer league, the source said.
Houston was responsible for bringing in Whitted, his former college teammate at Tennessee. Hodges was hired as an assistant coach to help teach the triangle offense. Hodges played for Jackson with the Bulls and served as a special assistant under Jackson when he coached the Lakers.
