With Carmelo Anthony out against the Heat due to his various injuries, coach Mike D’Antoni decided to start Toney Douglas and move Iman Shumpert to shooting guard and Landry Fields to small forward.
D’Antoni said he went with Douglas to try and get more scoring.
“We just want more playmaking on the floor,” D’Antoni said. “We’re just trying to find ways to be able to make shots and get better shots and whatever and transition will be better maybe this helps.”
No word on whether D’Antoni will stay the same tomorrow against the Rockets as Anthony will miss that game due.
The Heat also made an expected change to their starting lineup. Dwyane Wade, who missed the prior six games with an ankle injury, returns tonight to play a Knicks’ team that lost seven of its last eight games.
