The Westchester Knicks of the D-League hired Coby Karl and Derrick Alston to serve as assistants under new head coach Mike Miller.
Karl, the son of Kings coach George Karl, played parts of two NBA seasons with the Lakers, Cavaliers and Warriors, and appeared in 122 D-League games. He is one of two players in league history to see action in both the D-League and NBA on the same day.
Alston joins Westchester after spending the past three seasons as a player development coach with the Houston Rockets. The Bronx native was the No. 33 pick in the 1994 draft by the Sixers. He spent two seasons with the Sixers, and had a short stint with the Hawks before playing overseas for 15 years.
