The Liberty announced on Friday that they will host a single-elimination game in the second round of the WNBA playoffs on Sept. 10 at Madison Square Garden.

If the Liberty win that second-round game, they would advance to the semifinals and host Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-5 series. But Game 3, scheduled for Sept. 17, would be played at the Westchester County Center in White Plains and not Madison Square Garden. A Paul McCartney concert is scheduled for the evening of Sept. 17 at the Garden.

If Game 4 is necessary, that game would be played at the Garden, along with all other potential Liberty home playoff games.

“While there is a conflict with Madison Square Garden for a potential home playoff game due to a Paul McCartney concert, the New York Liberty will strive to create a first-class playoff environment for both our players and fans at Westchester County Center,” Liberty president Isiah Thomas said in a statement. “We look forward to playing all of our other potential home playoff games at The Garden.”

The Liberty (20-12) have won eight straight games and currently have the No. 4 seed for the playoffs heading into Friday night’s game against the San Antonio Stars at the Garden.

The Liberty trail the Connecticut Sun by one game for the third seed. The Sun play at the Phoenix Mercury Friday night and end their regular season at the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday afternoon. The Liberty play their final game of the regular season at the Dallas Wings on Sunday afternoon.
