The NBA season is barely two weeks old and some oddsmakers already are taking wagers on which coach will be fired first.

According to BovadaLV, Sacramento's George Karl is a 14-5 favorite to be the first to go, followed by Nets coach Lionel Hollins. Knicks coach Derek Fisher's odds are 4-1, the same as Lakers coach Byron Scott. Washington's Randy Wittman rounds out the top five.

The Nets have lost their first five contests by a combined 73 points, and have had trouble finishing games. But Spurs coach Gregg Popovich believes Hollins, in his second season with the Nets, still brings plenty to the table and appreciates his old-school approach.

"Well, first thing is he's a real guy,'' Popovich said. "There is no smoke, there is no mirrors, he tells you exactly how he feels, and that's to be appreciated in today's world, in my opinion, because there is so much of the other.

"But beyond that, he is solid in his beliefs. He knows what works and he knows how to teach it. He is consistent in that and he does it year after year. He is a quality guy.''
