Brandon St. Louis hit a putback layup, was fouled and converted the three-point play to give Valley Stream South a one-point lead with 40 seconds left in the Falcon's 45-42 win over West Hempstead Wednesday in Conference A-III boys basketball.
Thomas Meaney added two free throws with five seconds remaining for the final margin. Henoc Bienne had 19 points and five assists to lead the Falcons (1-1). St. Louis added seven points and 11 rebounds and Meany had five points and 10 rebounds. Thomas Valerio scored 15 points for West Hempstead.MacArthur 53, Division 50: William Chesire hit a three-pointer with 1.1 seconds left to win it for MacArthur (2-1) in the Levittown Tournament. J.J. Kissane had hit two free throws to tie the score at 50 for Division with 1:08 left. Chesire had 20 points and Colby Lapp led Division with 15 points.
Jericho 57, Westbury 52: Jordan Kanzer scored 15 points, including two three-pointers in the final two minutes, to lead Jericho (1-1) in Conference A-I. Jamal Egbaria had 16 points and eight rebounds and Jonathan Orr added 12 points and 13 rebounds. Tim Quashie scored a game-high 19 points for Westbury.Miller Place 70, Smithtown West 51: Senior Jack Hepburn scored a career-high 26 points, 17 of them in the second half, to lead Miller Place (3-3) in non-league. Steve Jackolski and Kevin Leyden each added 14 points and Nick Parrella had 10 points and seven assists.
Kings Park 63, Glenn 43: Nick Borkowski had 15 points and five assists to lead Kings Park (5-1) in non-league. Chris Savino added 13 points and Stephen Widden had 11 rebounds. Kenny Rosenback scored 11 points for Glenn.
Harborfields 46, Sayville 14: Sara Tane had 10 points and six rebounds off the bench to lead Harborfields (1-0) in League V. Kasey Stolba had 11 points and eight rebounds and Brigit Ryan added nine points.
Copiague 47, St. Mary's 42: Chelsea Williams had 28 points and nine rebounds to lead Copiague (3-1) in the Baldwin Tournament. KellyAnn Sullivan added 13 points. Maddie Jankowski scored 23 points for St. Mary's.
