Here's a release from MSG on the "Battle of the Badges".
The NYPD will go head-to-head against the FDNY at the 30th Anniversary of the “Battle of the Badges Presented by Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey” boxing event on Friday, November 9 at 8:00 p.m. at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. Once again, proceeds from the event will benefit the Atlas Cops & Kids Boxing Program as well as the Building Homes for Heroes Organization.
The rivalry between the badges began back in 1982 with the all-time record currently standing at 15 victories for the FDNY against 13 for the NYPD and one tie, which was recorded last year. The FDNY boxing team will be looking for its fourth victory in five years. Tickets for the “Battle of the Badges Presented by Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey” are priced at $65.00, $50.00, and $30.00 and are currently on sale. Tickets can be purchased at the Madison Square Garden Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.thegarden.com.
"Madison Square Garden is excited to once again host the men and women of New York City’s police and fire departments, who on a daily basis protect the people of New York, at the 30th anniversary of the Battle of the Badges," said Joel Fisher, executive vice president, MSG Sports. "We welcome Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey as our partner to present the best NYPD and FDNY fighters to our loyal boxing fans at the Mecca of Boxing."
"This year’s FDNY vs. NYPD Battle of the Badges event on November 9th will be the biggest show in our team’s history,” said Bobby McGuire, head boxing coach, FDNY. “It’s the 30th annual meeting between our teams and we want to win this one badly. It’s for NYC bragging rights and our guys will be ready to bring it to our brothers in blue. What could be better than having our biggest show at the Mecca of Boxing and The World’s Most Famous Arena, it does not get better than this."
