Scenic View: Episode 2 of Fight Camp 360 couldn’t have started off with more of a contrast as the producers began with shots of Manny Pacquiao being mobbed by citizens of Baguio City followed by scenes of Mosley running alone in the wilderness of Big Bear, California.
Best spoken lines, Freddie Roach: “A lot of people have tried to get me fired along the ways. A lot of people have tried to get me replaced. Manny will have nothing of that. Manny has been loyal to me. So I don’t think that will happen. I don’t think Manny will chance trying to win without me.”
“I never had a child in my life. But if I did have one he’s the closest thing to it. I said I would die for Manny Pacquiao and I think he would die for me, too.”
Best spoken lines, Pacquiao (on Roach): “He’s not only a boxer trainer, but we’re also friends. We’re like brothers. We’ve been working since 2001 and it’s a good experience.
Best spoken lines, Bob Arum: “Pacquiao’s guarantee is $20 million. Shane gets $5 million as a guarantee. I’m really happy that the fighters today are making the money that they are making. They’re the ones earning it. The public is paying for them to fight. They are entitled to the lion’s share of the revenue and that’s the way it should be.”
Best spoken lines, Mosley: “I’m really eager to put people in their place.”
“I don’t need anybody to tell me how good I am or how great I am. When I do the work, I do the hard work. I train back in the gym. I train. I hit the bags and I tell myself.”
A few tidbits from the episode: It was funny watching Pacquiao try and mimic Amir Khan’s British accent before they started sparring.
Seeing Shane Mosley Jr. train with his father also provided an interesting aspect of the episode. Mosley Jr. seemed intent on helping his father prove he still has it.
