It's back to work for middleweight sensation Sergio Martinez.

Martinez, still beaming off his one-punch knockout of Paul Williams in November, was named the BWAA Fighter of the Year.

Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KOs) will take on Sergiy Dzinziruk (37-0, 23 KOs) for the vacant WBC Diamond middleweight title on March 12 at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Ct. on HBO's Championship Boxing.

“March 12 is what world class boxing is all about,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “Sergio Martinez is proving that he has no interest in resting on his laurels by taking on an accomplished champion such as Sergiy Dzinziruk. Once again, ‘Maravilla’ will show why he is not only the 2010 FIghter of the Year, but also the people's champion."

Most insiders believe it wasn't quite the fight some people were hoping for. A bout with Miguel Cotto seemed to be what Martinez was looking for.

Martinez' year started on a high note with a unanimous-decision win over Kelly Pavlik for the WBC and WBO middleweight titles. He followed that up in November with his knockout of Paul Williams.

“I believe my next fight could be my best fight of my career because my boxing is getting better, I am physically stronger, and I am stronger mentally,” said Martinez. “My rival is a great fighter and a great champion for several years now but on March 12 he will fight the best Sergio Martinez and the fans will witness a spectacular show and the best fight of my career.”
