A pair of Long Island fighters will be showcased on Friday night's Punching at the Paradise card at the historic Paradise Theater in the Bronx.
New Hyde Park welterweight Richie Neves and Oceanside lightweight Michael Brooks are on the card co-promoted by Star Boxing and Golden Boy. Neves, a former Golden Gloves finalist, will be making his pro debut against Latwon Halsey. Brooks, a two-time Metro champion, is 4-0 as a pro and meets Jamell Tyson. Both Long Islanders train at the Westbury Boxing Club.
"We are looking forward to having these two prospects from Long Island on our upcoming show at the Paradise Theater in the Bronx this Friday night," said Star Boxing's Joe DeGuardia. "We are looking into doing more shows out in the Long Island area in the coming year, which will enable us to showcase more of the Island's top up and coming talent, like Michael and Rich in front of their hometown fans."
Friday's show, which will be broadcast on TeleFutura's "Sólo Boxeo Tecate" will be headlined by Newark's undefeated prospect, Michael Perez (13-0-1, 7KO's). Fighting in the co-feature, will be the Bronx's 18-year-old phenom, Eddie Gomez (5-0, 4KO's) as he looks to impress in his hometown debut.
"I've been working a long time for this," said Neves. "I'm ready. It's very exciting to fight on a card like this for my debut. I think people will be pleased with what they see."
The show begins at 7 p.m.
