It could be the end of the road for lightweight sensation Edwin Valero.
The 28-year-old was detained by Venezuelan police on suspicion of murder after the body of his 20-year-old wife was found dead in a hotelin Valencia, the Associated Press reported.
Venezuelan Federal police chief Wilmer Flores told reporters that Valero's wife was found with multiple stab wounds. Flores said Valero allegedly confessed to the murderof his wife, Jennifer Viera, to hotel security.
Valero's defended his WBC lightweight title after a victory over Antonio DeMarco, who didn't answer the bell for the ninth round.
Valero, 27-0, who has a tatto of the Venezuelan Flag on his chest, is a known throughout the country and considered by some a national hero.
