Another round of Lou DiBella’s Broadway Boxing series returns to the Roseland Ballroom on February 21, featuring top welterweight prospect Thomas Dulorme (16-1, 12 KOs) in an eight-round bout.
Dulorme is looking to bounce back from his first professional defeat at the hands of Carlos Abregu (34-1, 28 KOs) on HBO last October.
Dulorme, who has been competing at welterweight the last two years, will move to junior welterweight. Dulorme’s decision to move to the junior welterweight division came after the Abregu fight.
February’s bout will be at a catch-weight of 143 pounds.
"I feel great for my upcoming fight on February 21 and am exciting about fighting in the junior welterweight division. I feel much stronger and faster at this weight and I cannot wait to return to action in my favorite state of New York," said Dulorme.
DiBella is still confident Dulorme will reach his potential.
"Thomas suffered a tough loss but had a great learning experience in his fight with the hard-hitting Abregu," DiBella. "His fight on February 21 will be at a reduced weight as Thomas is moving down into the 140lb. division. Both DBE, GSP (Gary Shaw) and Javier Bustillo all still expect for Thomas to become a world champion."
The Puerto Rican native views the Abregu loss as only a minor setback.
"We learned a lot from the Abregu loss. After that fight, I didn't get down on myself or discouraged, we just went back to the drawing board and began working on and learning new things," said Dulorme. "I plan on staying in my new division for the time being, but I would love another crack at Abregu down the line, as I know that next time would be very different."
Other fighters set to appear on the card in eight-round bouts is lighweight Ivan Redkach (13-0, 11KO's) and WBA #11 rated welterweight Charlie Ota (21-1-1, 15KO's).
