Zab Judah stayed true to his word.
Early last week, Judah told Newsday he was going to show the world he's back and "in full effect".
He proved that on Saturday night with a seventh-round knockout of Kaizer Mabuza at the Prudential Center in Newark. Judah (41-6, 28 KOs) earned the 140-pound IBF title with the win. He also may have played himself into the Tim Bradley, Devon Alexander, Amir Khan mix.
But that isn't likely to be decided for a couple of months.
There's no doubt that as time passes Judah will again become a sought-after opponent. He has a following, he has a title and great name recognition, eveything a boxer and his promoter needs to sell a big fight.
How does Bradley vs. Judah sound? Or Bradley vs. Alexander?
Even Judah vs. Juan Manuel Marquez has a interesting ring to it. That may be wishful thinking on the Neutral Corner's part.
Either way, Judah is a name you will hear often.
