Braves to split closing duties

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez hasn't decided on one closer of lefthander Jonny Venters and righthander Craig Kimbrel will split the job. Kimbrel has experience closing in the minor leagues, but has struggled with control but has very high strikeout rates.

Kimbrel throws in the high 90s and struck out 40 in 20 2/3 innings with a 0.44 ERA with the Braves last season, but walked 16. After a slow start to the spring, he has allowed one hit, one walk, and struck out eight in six scoreless innings. Venters used to be a starter before pitching out of the Braves' bullpen last season. In 79 games he had a 1.95 ERA and struck out 93 in 83 innings.

Logically, this makes sense since both are inexperienced and both are good arms. For fantasy purposes, it's not good. I could see one emerging eventually, but don't be surprised if this sticks all season. Both should be drafted in all leagues.
