HORSE RACING'Rachel's' owner seeks

series vs. Zenyatta

The owner of Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra says his filly won't run against Zenyatta in a $5 million race in Arkansas, but he's proposing a three-race series in which the leading ladies will meet. Jess Jackson says he has been in discussions with the president of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association and hopes details can be worked out with the owners of Zenyatta.


Johnson in wreck,

goes to backup car

Jimmie Johnson's quest for a fifth straight NASCAR championship will begin in a backup car. Johnson was involved in the latest wreck at Daytona International Speedway, doing enough damage that crew chief Chad Knaus decided to scrap the primary car for Sunday's Daytona 500. Joey Logano and Kyle Busch also got caught up in the accident.


LeBron, Kobe make

national team roster

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant and most of the reigning Olympic gold medalists could be back in U.S.uniforms this summer. The Americans announced 27 players for the national team pool that will be used to select the rosters for this summer's world championships and the 2012 Olympics in London.


Race postponed again

Race 1 of the America's Cup at Valencia, Spain was postponed again, this time because of big waves in the Mediterranean. The big multihulls, USA and Alinghi 5, didn't even leave the docks. Organizers will try again tomorrow to get in the first race of the grudge match between American challenger BMW Oracle Racing and two-time defending champion Alinghi of Switzerland.- AP
