Auburn jumps Oregon to No. 1 in AP poll

Auburn, on the strength of its 56-17 demolition of South Carolina in the SEC title game on Saturday afternoon, jumped Oregon to No. 1 in the AP top 25, released on Sunday.

Oregon, a 37-20 winner over Oregon State in the Civil War on Saturday, is No. 2.

Auburn has 36 first-place votes in the AP poll, while Oregon has 23. The Tigers also have an 11-point lead over the Ducks in total points.

The remainder of the AP poll remained pretty much the same.

Oklahoma, a 23-20 winner over Nebraska in the Big 12 title game on Saturday night, jumped Boise State to No. 9. Nebraska fell four spots to No. 17.

Florida State, a 44-33 loser to Virginia Tech in the ACC title game on Saturday night, fell three spots to No. 23.

Connecticut, which beat South Florida 19-16 on Saturday night to win the Big East title and clinch a BCS bowl berth, is in the AP top 25 at No. 25.

The top 12 teams in the USA Today top 25 remain unchanged from last week. Oregon is still No. 1 with a 13-point lead over Auburn. Oregon has 34 first-place votes, while Auburn has 24.

Nebraska fell three spots to No. 16 and Florida State fell three spots to No. 23.
