Auburn quarterback Cam Newton easily won the 76th Heisman Trophy on Saturday night in New York City.
Here is Newsday's story.
Newton has enjoyed one of the great seasons on the field in recent memory and has had a controversial season off the field.
Newton won in a landslide, beating second-place finisher Andrew Luck of Stanford. LaMichael James of Oregon was third and Boise State's Kellen Moore was fourth.
However, 105 ballots were returned with Newton's name omitted.
The NCAA is investigating a pay-for-play plan it says Cam Newton's father, Cecil Newton, came up with to secure his son's commitment to play football. Cecil Newton did not attend Saturday night's ceremony.
