Joe Botti scored on a 63-yard pass from Erik Anderwkavick with 1:32 left as C.W. Post edged Slippery Rock, 42-38, in a non-conference road game yesterday.
The win gave head coach Bryan Collins his 100th victory at the school and the Pioneers their highest win total since 2006.
Anderwkavick completed 18 of 25 passes for 314 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 75 yards and Anthony Brunetti carried 13 times for 90 yards and two touchdowns to lead Post (7-4).
Slippery Rock had the ball and a chance to pull out the win, but Ronnie Modik led the defense with 20 tackles and intercepted a Slipper Rock pass with 39 seconds left to seal the win for Post. Rensselaer 29, USMAA 27: Peter Nilson hit a 29-yard field goal as time expired to lead Rensselaer (4-2) in the Liberty League play. Richard Lyons scored on a 38-yard run to give USMMA (3-3)a 27-26 lead with two minutes left in the game. Sophomore running back John Gosselin rushed for 197 yards on 31 carries and had three touchdowns and Derrick Zentre passed for 96 yards and rushed for 41 for USMMA.
Suffolk CC 1, Richland CC 0: Rafael Rajo scored with 4:38 seconds to play off a cross from Ronald Pressley to lift Suffolk CC (18-0-1) in an NJCAA national semifinal. Jesse Nutly made nine saves for his 14th shutout and 8th in a row. Suffolk plays the winner of Herkimer CC and Triton (IL) today at noon at Herkimer.Adelphi 2, NJIT 0: Alexander Kouznetsov and Michael Aquino each scored goals to lead No. 2 Adelphi (10-6-2) over No. 3 NJIT (4-13-2) in an ASC semifinal.
