Buck's 7 OT points lead USMMA to win

Reed Buck scored seven of his 19 points in the second overtime as USMMA defeated Drew, 94-87, in their Landmark Conference men's basketball opener Saturday.

Asmar Capers (36 points) scored with 20 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 70 for Drew, and Capers' free throw with 12.9 seconds left tied it at 78 to force a second overtime.

Denver Effland scored 18 points and Kevin Kerr added 14 points and six steals for USMMA (3-2, 1-0).

Nassau CC 101, Ulster CC 79: Malcolm Moore scored 33 points and had six rebounds and five assists to lead Nassau CC (6-2, 5-1 Region XV).

Suffolk CC 72, Dutchess CC 70: Nasha Smith had 29 points and six rebounds, and Anthony Moultrie 10 points and five rebounds to lead Suffolk CC (5-4, 2-3 Region XV).

C.W. Post 79, Queens 63: Tobin Carberry had 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists to lead Post (6-1). Freshman Charles McCann added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Stefan Bonneau had 14 points and five assists.

SUNY Old Westbury 88, Sage 68: Tavon McNair had a career-high 31 points and 11 rebounds for Old Westbury (3-2, 2-0 Skyline). Jamal Little added 25.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

SUNY-Old Westbury 65, Sage 54: Denise Zajonc had 15 points and three steals to lead Old Westbury (2-3, 1-0 Skyline). Myajha Elston added nine points and 15 rebounds.

Assumption 75, Adelphi 72: Katy Howard and Kelly Meredith each scored 22 points to lead Assumption (7-0, 5-0 NE-10). Howard's free throws gave Assumption a 75-69 lead with 12 seconds left. Jessica Kitrys scored 19 points and Shannon Flynn had 12 points and three steals for Adelphi (2-5, 1-4).
