Case's single lifts St. John's

Robert Case's two-run single capped a three-run rally in the eighth inning that lifted St. John's over Seton Hall, 4-3, Saturday in Big East baseball.

The Storm entered the inning down two before Matt Wessinger drew a bases-loaded walk. Joe Panik was 2-for-3 and Paul Karmas had a solo homer for St. John's (16-12, 5-3). Seton Hall is 13-15, 3-5.

Northeastern 1, Hofstra 0: Pete Castoldi had an RBI single in the ninth for Northeastern (7-20, 3-8 CAA). Rob Kumbatovic struck out five in seven scoreless innings for Hofstra (6-19, 5-9).


Old Westbury sweeps.Sophomore Alyssa Clancy pitched her second career no-hitter for SUNY-Old Westbury in an 8-0 win over Mount St. Vincent in the first game of a doubleheader. Clancy walked none and struck out five. Samantha Siegler had three RBIs for the Panthers (12-6, 7-2 Skyline). Old Westbury won the second game, 14-0, as Clancy and Denise Zajonc combined for a five-inning no-hitter. Jennifer Jean was 2-for-3 with four RBIs.Adelphi sweeps.Katie Andrews threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Adelphi in an 8-0 win over St. Michael's in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Deandra Leo had three RBIs for Adelphi (11-17, 5-5 NE-10). The Panthers won Game 1, 3-1 as Leighann Bell allowed a run in seven innings for the win.


Adelphi 10, Merrimack 8:Tommy Susko had five goals and an assist for Adelphi (8-1, 4-0 NE-10). Shane Winn added three goals and an assist, and Eric Janssen made 16 saves.

Nassau CC 9, Essex CC 5:Zach Goldbach had four goals and two assists for No. 3 Nassau CC (7-2). Tim Daly scored twice, Ryan Quinn won 8 of 11 faceoffs and Tim Bradley made 16 saves. No. 2 Essex CC is 7-1.

NYIT 12, Wheeling Jesuit 5:Cory Triola scored five goals and Chris Lubin added four goals for NYIT (6-3, 4-2 ECC).


Farmingdale State 13, Kean 12: Carly Schneider (five goals) scored with 5:13 left to give Farmingdale State a 13-11 lead. Courtney Cook made nine saves for the Rams (6-4, 5-0 Skyline).

Stony Brook 10, Binghamton 9:Samantha Djaha (four goals) scored with 5:15 left to give Stony Brook a 10-8 lead. Mickey Cahill made seven saves for the Seawolves (4-8, 1-3 AE).

Adelphi 20, Stonehill 14:Claire Petersen had five goals and seven assists and Elizabeth Fey added three goals for Adelphi (8-0, 5-0 NE-10).
