Sure, it was only VMI, but you can't deny that Seton Hall's 134-107 win was impressive.
What the made the win that much more great was that Jamel Jackson came off the bench and dropped a career-high 40 points. The former Lincoln high school star shot 14-for-17 from the field, including 12-for-15 from three-point range.
Jackson set a school record for most threes in a game and hit his first seven.
Jeremy Hazell added 33 points and 12 rebounds. Oh, and he hit six three-pointers.
The dynamic offensive show notwithstanding, how good is Seton Hall? The Pirates are 8-0. Except for a 53-51 nailbiter against Jersey rival St. Peter's, Seton Hall has crushed every opponent. Granted none of their opponents are top-25 teams.
The Pirates will get their first test next Saturday as they host Temple. The Owls (7-2) aren't world beaters either, but they played Georgetown to a standstill in a 46-45 loss and fell to a hot St. John's team, 55-48.
