Final Metro Poll: LIU No.1, SBU 3rd

LIU finishes the season as the No.1 team in our final Metro Poll of the year. It was another great season by the Blackbirds, who host Sacred Heart tonight an NEC quarterfinal. LIU was led by NEC player of the year Julian Boyd and fellow All-NEC first teamers Jamal Olasewere and Jason Brickman. Iona also capped a great season by capturing the MAAC regular-season championship. NBA prospects Scotty Machado and Michael Glover led the way for the Gaels.

Stony Brook won the America East title for the second time in three seasons and hopes to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The Seawolves, who finished third in the poll, hosts the winner of UMBC and Binghamton in an AE quarterfinal on Saturday. Wagner, Seton Hall and Manhattan finished fourth thru sixth, while Fairfield, Princeton, St. Francis and St. John’s round out the poll.
