Few rivalries in college basketball are as intense as Xavier and Cincinnati. That much was evident on Sunday as the benches cleared twice in Xavier's 83-79 double OT win.
Hempstead product Terrell Holloway was a force on both sides of the ball as he dropped 26 points and guarded super freshman Lance Stephenson. The benches cleared twice during the game as each team committed hard fouls that got tempers boiling.
In the end, it was the smooth offense by Hollaway and his willingness to guard Stephenson in the second half that helped Xavier to the win.
The 6-foot sophomore offered to guard Stephenson, saying "I got Lance. I'm from New York", according to a report on espn.com (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=4740338).
The win could get Xavier (6-3) back on the right track after a couple of tough losses to Kansas State and Baylor.
