Hofstra starting to catch fire, tops Rider 58-48

The Mo Cassara way of playing basketball is starting to sink in.

Hofstra (3-3) appears to have recovered from a rough start to the season at the Puerto Rico Shootout. Charles Jenkins scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half and Dwan McMillan had 10 points as the Pride topped Rider, 58-48, in a non-conference game.

It was a good win for Hofstra, which knocked off a Rider squad that already has wins over USC and TCU. Of course there are still questions about the offense since there were only two double-figure scorers. It's worth noting that three other players had eight points each.

Next up for Hofstra is a home game against CAA foe Towson, followed by several winnable non-conference games against Binghamton, Florida Atlantic, Manhattan, Holy Cross and Iona.

Cassara said his team is "still a work in progress" after a tight win against Wagner last Friday.

That progression is beginning to come to the forefront.
