Just wondering  - Why Tom Izzo is so upset with his team. Sure, the Spartans are 12-7 (4-3 Big Ten), but his team is fresh off a Final Four appearance. Izzo said his team’s record is “disturbing”. The sentiment is understandable given Michigan State’s history. But his top guard, Kalin Lucas, is not even a year removed from a torn ACL. Fellow backcourt mate Durrell Summers hasn’t been that great either, but come on Tom, give your guys a break. The Spartans, barring a continuing decent, will make the tournament. Hey, the AP voters still have confidence in Michigan State, which is No.25 in the latest poll.

Just wondering - How long will Bruce Pearl stay at Tennessee? He was suspended from coaching the first eight SEC games for committing a rules violating and misleading NCAA investigators. Now Tennessee could be in more trouble. Junior forward Renaldo Woolridge will meet with NCAA officials to find out if he received free use of a Knoxville bar to film a music video, according to an Associated Press report. It could be a violation. According to a report in the News Sentinel, Woolridge used the bar to make a video to support him and Tennessee athletics.

Just wondering - Will the Big East get 10 teams in the NCAA Tournament? Some people have said the conference could get 11 in. With seven teams in the AP top 25, it’s perfectly understandable why some people would think that. The unranked teams (West Virginia, Cincinnati, St. John’s, Marquette) all have respectable overall and conference records. At some point, however, the damn will break. These teams will continue to beat up on each other. Look for eight Big East teams to get in.

Just wondering - Will the ACC get more than four teams in? It’s not looking good right now. After Duke, Florida State, North Carolina and Boston College, it’s all a jumble. Five of the next six teams have conference records of 2-3. Virginia Tech, sitting in fifth place, has a 3-2 conference mark. If Temple gets its act together, the Atlantic 10 could get as many as four teams in. Xavier (13-5, 5-0), Duquesne (13-5, 5-0) and Richmond (15-5, 4-1) are the top three teams right now. Temple (13-5, 3-2) and Dayton (15-5, 3-2) are on the outside looking in right now.

Just wondering - Who will lose first? Ohio State (20-0) is the No.1 team in the country and plays home against Purdue on Wednesday. San Diego State (20-0) is No.4 and plays host to BYU on Thursday. When was the last time a BYU-San Diego State game garnered national attention? Try never. BYU’s Jimmer Fredette is primed for a big game against the Aztecs.
