Iona strikes again

Iona, which is fast becoming the greatest show on the court in New York, made another appearance in New Rochelle on Monday night.

Michael Glover had 28 points and 14 rebounds and Scott Machado had 14 points and 10 assists in a 100-84 win over a pretty good LIU team. We blogged last week about Iona’s ability to get up and down the court and get any shot it wanted. And again, we came away convinced that they are for real. The offensive potency the Gaels possesses is second to none.

What’s most important about this is that the Gaels are doing this against every team they play. They scored 90 on Purdue, 94 against Western Michigan, 89 points on Maryland and 104 points against St. Joseph’s. It helps that the Gaels have an experienced crew leading the way.

For any Long Islanders hoping to catch the Iona show, it won’t be long. The Gaels (4-1), who embark on an eight-game road trip, will be in Hempstead on December 29 to take on Hofstra.
