Kentucky's hopes of getting to the Final Four took a huge blow when 6-10 center Enes Kanter was ruled ineligible, the NCAA said on its website Thursday.
Kanter played three seasons with the Turkish sport club Fenerbahce from 2006-07 to 2008-09. The talented center was ruled to have received over $30,000 more than his expenses should have been for the 2008-2009.
Kentucky has said it will appeal the ruling.
NCAA rules allow athletes to compete on teams with professionals provided the expenses they receive don't exceed what is necessary.
