The magical season for LIU just keeps on going.
Julian Boyd had 20 points, 11 rebounds and three steals and Jamal Olasewere added 18 points and 12 rebounds for LIU in a 90-75 win over St. Francis in an NEC quarterfinal on Thursday.
“I thought we really came out extremely focused and set the tone on how this basketball game was going to be played tonight,” LIU head coach Jim Ferry said. “Overall I thought we played a very, very good basketball game.”
It was the 11th straight win and the 18th the last 19 for the top-seeded Blackbirds (25-5), which will host Central Connecticut State in a semifinal on Sunday at noon.
It was the eighth time this season the Blackbirds, who were seventh in the nation in scoring through Wednesday, have scored 90 or more points.
