The size of the target on the backs of the LIU mens team has doubled in size thanks to a magical 2010-2011 season that saw the Blackbirds (27-6) win the NEC regular season and tournament titles and advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Jim Ferry didn’t waste any time putting together what should be a challengeing schedule. The Blackbirds open their season on November 11 with a date at Hofstra, a perennial 20-win squad. That contest will be followed by a road trip to Old Dominion on November 14.

It gets better for LIU, which plays at Penn State on November 16. The Blackbirds also square off against 2011 MAAC tournament champ St. Peter’s in a home game on December 17.

Other notable non-conference games include matchups against Radford and a possible contest against Marist or Vermont at the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament on November 19-20. The Blackbirds will close out their non-conference schedule at Iona on November 28.

Lafayette, Columbia and Norfolk State are also on LIU's non-conference schedule.

LIU, which returns five of its top seven scorers, including super junior Julian Boyd, begins its NEC schedule at home against Wagner on December 1 followed by a road game versus Mt. St. Mary two days later.
