Michigan State gets by New Mexico State 70-67

That was just a little too close for Michigan State. Ahead 68-67 with 19 seconds left Raymar Morgan was at the line for two free throws. He made the first and apparently missed the second. But one of the officials called New Mexico State for a lane violation (a questionable call in Hoops Scoops humble opinion).

Morgan made the shot the second time, giving the Spartans a 70-67 lead with 19 seconds left. No.5 New Mexico State missed two threes on the ensuing possession and failed to get a third one off as Michigan State stole the inbounds pass as time expired.

This was a real test for the No.12 Spartans. Trailing 61-59 with 5:50 left, Raymar Morgan had five points and Draymond Green added two free throws as Michigan State went on a 8-3 run for a 67-64 lead.

The run was highlighted by a thunderous tip dunk by Morgan, with the Spartans up 65-63.

Kalin Lucas added a free throw, extending the lead to 68-64 with 52 seconds left.

Lucas led Michigan State with 25 points and Durrell Summers added 14.
