St. John's coach Steve Lavin shook up his starting lineup on Wednesday night.

The Red Storm didn't miss a beat with the changes as it picked up its fifth win of the season, 69-61, over Wagner in a non-conference game.

Paris Horne, Justin Burrell and Malik Stith all started for the first time this season. D.J. Kennedy (20 points) , Justin Brownlee (17) and Dwayne Polee Jr., who started the first five games of the season for St. John's (5-1), came off the bench on Wednesday night.

The following was coach Steve Lavin's explanation for the change.

"What we did here tonight was kind of a combination of things. It was different with each change in the starting lineup. In some cases, it was just trying to send a message, put a little fire under the fanny in terms of attitudes and approach. In another case, it was a very minor, but still important team policy in terms of class attendance."
