We may be stretching things a little bit, but you have to be impressed with Mike Brey's club these days. Notre Dame looked great in its 73-70 home win over No.8 UConn on Tuesday night.
The Irish (12-2, 1-1 Big East) improved to 10-0 at home. Among those home games were victories over Gonzaga and Wisconsin. Notre Dame's losses have come against Kentucky and Syracuse. Granted both losses were blowouts, but Notre Dame couldn't have asked for much more.
The Irish offense has looked particularly sharp as four player scored in double figures in the win. Ben Hansbrough led the way with 21 points.
Now to enlighten everyone as to why we are posting this. Notre Dame hosts the our lovable St. John's Red Storm on Thursday. Considering how great the Irish have played at home, a win by the Red Storm will put them right smack-dab in the middle of the Big East mix.
Winning at home against Georgetown was one thing, so was winning on the road against two unranked teams in Providence and West Virginia. But to beat 14th-ranked Notre Dame after three straight conference wins will turn a lot of heads.
