Looking for a David vs. Goliath game otherwise known as a mid-major taking down a BCS conference team? Just tune into one of the ESPN channels or CBS College sports TV sometime this month. You are bound to catch an upset or two.
We'll start with St. Peter's knocking off Alabama on Monday.
Jeron Belin hit a three from the top of the key with 10 seconds left to give the Peacocks a 50-49 victory over Alabama in the seventh-place game of the Paradise Jam. Sure, Alabama, which already lost to Seton Hall, is down this year. But how often does a MAAC team beat an SEC squad.
San Diego State won at Gonzaga. Not sure how much of an upset that is, but Gonzaga is a program with a national profile.
Vanderbilt beat North Carolina on Sunday. Ok, that's another game that may not be a huge upset since Vandy is an SEC team, but the Heels are an elite program.
There were several close calls. Georgetown beat Old Dominion, 62-59, Wake Forest struggled with Hampton in a 63-56 win and Oklahoma needed overtime to handle North Carolina Central, 71-63.
There was also Tennesse's four-point win over Missouri State, Syracuse's 63-60 win over William & Mary and Florida beating Morehead State 61-55.
