The NYIT women's basketball team has quietly climbed the success ladder the last three-plus seasons, improving from four wins in 2009-10 to a program-record 16 games last year.

After the Bears' 74-62 comeback win over visiting LIU Post Saturday, they are now within one game of last season's win total.

"This was a big game against a team that went to the NCAA Tournament last year," NYIT coach Anthony Crocitto said.

NYIT (15-0, 7-0 ECC) remains undefeated with the victory and is off to its best start in program history.

But it wasn't easy for the Bears, who overcame a 56-52 deficit with 6:25 remaining in the game.

"We were certainly tested," Crocitto said. "Our character was tested and our athleticism was tested."
