Reports of Jim Calhoun's demise... You know the rest.
According to ESPN.com's Andy Katz Calhoun agreed to a four-year contract extension with Connecticut on Thursday.
Calhoun, 67, is expected to sign the new deal within the next few weeks, according to the report.
Much of the talk surrounding the Big East tournament has been about the fate of Calhoun. After Tuesday's 73-51 loss to St. John's, speculation of his retirement became a hot topic.
It was a perfectly reasonable thought considering what Calhoun has been through. He's been battling cancer for over a year and just last June broke a few ribs after falling during a bike ride in a charity event.
UConn (17-15, 7-11 Big East) will also have to deal with the loss of key seniors Jerome Dyson and Stanley Robinson. There is also a possibility of Kemba Walker declaring for the NBA draft. That's probably a long shot now after the sophomore guard's 4-for-17 shooting performance against the Red Storm.
