Report: NCAA to stick with CBS / Turner

It looks like the NCAA Tournament will stay on CBS and also be broadcast on Turner Networks.

Citing sources close to the bidding process, the Sports Business Journal reported that CBS / Turner's offered a 14-year deal averaging about $840 million per year. ESPN offered $800 million over the same length of time.

ESPN has said it will not increase its bid, according to the Sports Business Journal.

The NCAA is in the midst of an 11-year, $6 billion with CBS. But the NCAA can opt out of the deal. The final three years of the deal is valued at bout $700 million per season.

If the NCAA decides to stick with the CBS / Turner bid, which seems likely, tournament games will be broadcast on CBS, TNT, TBS and TruTV. CBS and Turner would alternate televising the Final Four, according to the Sports Business Journal.

There will be a lot of questions about this deal, though. Would ratings slip with so many games being aired on cable or satellite TV?
